The frame of the Actros offers the benefits of a robust, durable construction that is ideal for mounting bodies, minimal weight, and two other outstanding features: the innovative integral rear section on 4x2* and 6x2 semitrailer tractors, which is described in more detail in a separate section, and the intelligently designed frame head. All connections are bolted connections, making it easier – and therefore less costly – to exchange any of the parts during repair work. In addition, the weight-optimised front underride protection cuts the kerb weight. Another advantage of the Actros design is that the head lamps are positioned above the areas of the front apron which are at particularly high risk from stone chipping.
