The football players of the Frankfurt Eintracht football Club celebrated their new "home on four wheels". Frank Koschatzky, Head of Sales at Mercedes-Benz Bus and Coach Unit for the West region in Frankfurt, handed over the new team bus in the presence of Heribert Bruchhagen, CEO of Eintracht Frankfurt, and Rainer Falkenhain, Head of Contract Players for Eintracht Frankfurt, to bus operator Günter Bohr and his wife at the Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt.

The exterior design of the luxury Mercedes-Benz Travego high-decker touring coach includes the club colours and logo of the Frankfurt Eintracht football club. The football players can travel in comfort thanks to 30 seats with leather upholstery, several club tables, an Internet connection, SAT TV and stereo system with additional CD and DVD changer plus several flat screens. The equipment in the interior such as the special built-in galley, the Internet connection, four seating groups with club tables and additional details were implemented by the company Frenzel. The 13 m long Mercedes-Benz Travego is driven by a powerful in-line six-cylinder turbodiesel OM 457 LA engine with 335 KW (456 hp). The new team bus also comes equipped with a new Mercedes GO 240-8 PowerShift automated eight-speed manual transmission.

Safety first – safety is of top priority at Mercedes-Benz, which is why the new team bus is equipped with the multiple-award-winning Active Brake Assist (ABA). Active Brake Assist actively helps to avoid collisions and can save lives: the Active Brake Assist – also known as emergency braking system – had its market debut in 2006 in the Mercedes-Benz Actros heavy truck.

If there is acute danger of a collision with a slow vehicle in front, the Active Brake Assist initiates hard braking after issuing escalating warnings. If the bus comes to a standstill after the emergency stop, the hazard warning lights switch on automatically. The Active Brake Assist may not always be able to prevent accidents, but by applying the braking effect it can significantly reduce the speed of the collision and in turn the severity of the accident.

Also included is the Front Collision Guard FCG, a unique passive safety system for protecting the driver and tour guide in the event of a front collision. The Front Collision Guard is made up of a complex safety system. It begins with a transverse profile which creates an underride guard to protect other road users in the event of an accident and can for example prevent a passenger car from driving under the vehicle. Located behind this profile is a structure composed of crash elements which absorb energy in a targeted manner if impact occurs.

In addition the team bus has further safety features such as a cornering light function, rain/light sensor, durable LED clearance lamps above the windscreen, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®), anti-lock braking system (ABS), acceleration skid control (ASR), Electronic Brake System (EBS), hydrodynamic retarder, continuous braking limiter (DBL), DISTRONIC adaptive cruise control, Lane Assistant (SPA) plus a reversing aid in the exterior mirror and built-in reversing camera.

The Mercedes-Benz Travego range comprises three high-decker models: Travego (two axles, length of 12.18 m), Travego M (three axles, length of 13.0 m) and Travego L (three axles, length of 14.03 m).
